What do we need to Buy in the Engine protector add-on cover under Pvt car policies?

There are about 10 perils covered under a comprehensive Pvt car motor insurance. One among them is damage to the vehicle including the engine caused by any accidental external means. Then, why should you purchase an add-on cover of an engine protector at an additional cost?

Under the engine protector cover, you get consequential damage to the internal child parts of the engine/ gearbox of the vehicle arising out of water ingression and /or leakage of lubricating oil due to Accidental means. To claim under this add-on. you have to show the evidence that the Insured Vehicle stopped in a waterlogged area resulting in damage to the internal parts of the engine due to water ingression, evidence of undercarriage damage to the engine and/or gearbox leading to oil leakage, and resulting in damage to internal parts of the engine and/or gearbox. Since these are consequential damages in nature, it is not covered under standard comprehensive motor policies and is to be covered by buying the above add-on.
