Do You know the items which are not payable under health insurance.?
There are certain expenses in your medical bills you have to pay from your pocket and no health insurance will pay for this. So, it is very important to know what is not payable from the total medical bill. These expenses can sometimes account for up to 10% of total medical bills.
The list of non-payable items primarily includes consumables and other non-medical items. The list ranges from consumables, non-medical items such as toiletries, cosmetics, personal comfort, or convenience items to certain elements of room charges and administrative charges, telephone, laundry or internet costs, etc. Even medical items such as spectacles, contact lenses, hearing aids, adhesive bandages, crepe bandages, and gauze are not payable. Similarly in room-related costs, expenses on television, air conditioning, housekeeping, and attendant costs are not payable if they are billed separately and are not part of the room costs. There are also other types of non-medical expenses towards administrative costs like admission kits, discharge procedures, entrance passes or visitor passes, and patient identification bands or name tags excluded from the insurance cover.
